Our New Flower Boxes

The new flower boxes (made by our friend Shane) have been installed and are planted. I'm so excited about the way they look. We also finished painting the front door and the shutters on the front of the house. The rest of the shutters are a little slow coming though. We've lost a little steam. We chose a sage-ish green color and had to have it darkened a few times before getting it right. The first batch was just too baby room green. Not really a color you want on the outside of your house. I am ecstatic about the way it has all turned out. I am now referring to our house as the cottage. Ha! I think it's a much more fitting name. "How would you like to come over to the cottage for dinner?" sounds so much more inviting doesn't it?

Finally Painted

Well I finally painted our little table and chairs that Marmie and Papa gave us. Remember how very yellow they were? And we all know I have to have white. So i painted them a couple of weekends ago. I'm feeling very good about them now.

Our New Reading Nook

The Bean loves to read books. So I thought I would take some inspiration that I gathered from a few blogs and make her a little reading nook in our computer room. I was so in love with the antique book idea that I decided to cover the entire wall with the pages. This all transpired while Ryan was away at work. Luckily for me he was quite fond of the idea when he returned home so I wasn't in too much trouble for gluing a bunch of paper to the wall. I hope we never have to move again because I dread having to pull them all down. But they are gorgeous for right now.

Baking With The Bean!

The Peanut = 6 Months

*We haven't been for The Peanut's 6 month appointment yet so I'm not sure how much he weighs. But it has to be more the 15 lbs because thats what he weighed last time we were in for a check up. I'll update you when we go.

*We've started him on cereal and he has mixed emotions about it. He still doesn't really have the hang of it. But we will keep trying

*"Talking"/singing constantly. I think he's trying to keep up with his sister! Sometimes I swear that I hear him harmonizing with The Bean's yelling.

*And he's all smiles all the time. Everywhere we go strangers are always commenting on what a friendly and happy baby he is. And he really is very content. I think I am going to love that about second children!

*Sleeping update: Last night he slept from 10:30- 6:00!!! Woohoo. What an answer to prayer. We have also moved him from his Amby Bed to a pack and play in our room. I'll move him upstairs as soon as I get a few 10-6 nights in a row. The Bean and The Peanut will be sharing a room so I would love any advice anyone might have on the topic of sibling room sharing.

A few of my favorite things...

*The Peanut has gotten his first two teeth. AT THE SAME TIME! (can you see them in the picture?) So I am forever indebted to whoever suggested that I try these. They are all-natural and amazing. They really do work, which I was surprised about. I also have some teething powder that my friend Ioa gave me. She's from Nairobi and she swears by the stuff. I think its called Ashton and Parsons, or something like that. But, I am very concerned about what I will do when my supply runs out.

*A friend of mine gave me These CDs and they are changing my life.

*And I paid way too much for two of these at the flea market on Saturday. Aren't they just so amazingly old and beat up. The picture really doesn't do it justice. I love that old world look. And of course they don't work so I will just have to put candles in them instead. Boy, its a good thing that the flea market is only once a month. I'm sure Ryan is very thankful.
